Getting Your People to Change
Leading people to change is about three key issues: why, what and how.
Why?
What is the motivation for changing things? Why is it important? What’s in it both for the organisation and the individual? People are capable of overcoming huge obstacles if the stakes are high enough… but if they don’t understand Why, the chances are it won’t happen.
What?
What is it you are looking to change? What is the issue that is preventing you achieving your aims? What impact will it have on the business?
How?
What specific skills, abilities, competencies, training, people, systems, procedures, behaviours and activity will get us there? Finding the solution to the problem is often the easiest part.
The most important of these is Why?
For people to change how they work they need to buy into the need for change. Once they have this they will go through the hassle and inconvenience of the “What” and “How” phases. This is where we are different. We work with you to develop and communicate the reasons to change; ensuring they are powerful, compelling and have meaning and relevance to the individual.
